This is not a page we tick off. This is what the product can do, what it cannot do and what can go wrong. Read it before you buy.

Warning

Warnings

  • 01 Ignition: the slider generates sparks that can ignite flammable material. Keep away from fuel, oil, dry grass and waste. Have a fire extinguisher at hand.
  • 02 Eye injury: sparks and loose particles can cause eye injury. Eye protection is mandatory for the rider, the pillion and bystanders within 10 metres.
  • 03 Burns: the slider gets hot during use. Do not touch it with bare hands after use and do not put it down on flammable material.
  • 04 Detaching slider: a badly fitted slider can come off at speed. Check the attachment before every session.
  • 05 Damage to third parties: sparks can damage paint, clothing and tyres of others. Keep your distance from other riders and equipment.
  • 06 Distraction: do not look at the sparks while riding. Your attention belongs on the track.
18+ For use on closed courses and private property only, with permission from the owner or organiser. Not for public roads. Do not use near fuel stations, pits with fuel or unprotected spectators.

Sparkade designs and produces the sliders in-house in the Netherlands. Every batch gets a batch number that is printed on the packaging. Keep the packaging until the slider is used up.

Reporting incidents

Did something go wrong with a Sparkade product? Email info@sparkade.nl with the batch number, a description of what happened and photos if you have them. We reply within two working days and record every report in our product file.

The 4-second rule

Four seconds of contact with the asphalt at most. Then at least five seconds of cooldown. Longer contact makes the slider hotter than the base can take and shortens its life drastically. This is not advice, this is the usage limit.

Instructions for use

  1. Read this page and the safety sheet in the packaging in full.
  2. Fit the slider according to the fitting guide with superglue on a clean, dry, degreased surface. Let it cure for 24 hours.
  3. Superglue bonds skin instantly. Keep it away from your eyes.
  4. Check the attachment before every session. Pull on it.
  5. Use only on a closed course or private property, with permission and a fire extinguisher within reach.
  6. Wear eye protection. Visor down.
  7. Stick to the 4-second rule.
  8. Let the slider cool down before you touch it or store it.
  9. Replace the slider as a whole once the material is used up. There are no refills or inserts.

Lifespan is roughly 2 to 3 minutes of total contact time per slider, in short runs of 4 seconds max. Indicative, based on our first test series; we keep measuring and will update the number. We publish material choice once the test series is complete.

Safety questions

Spark sliders are not intended for and not permitted on public roads. Sparks on a public road can count as dangerous riding and lead to fines and confiscation. On a closed course or private property, with permission from the owner or organiser, the rules of that venue apply. Ask beforehand. We sell exclusively for that use.

Stop immediately, move the bike away from fuel and use the fire extinguisher. Do not touch the slider. Report the incident to us with the batch number.

Only on a closed course, with gloves, eye protection and a rider who knows about it. Never on a public road. 18+.

No. The slider is one piece and wears away as a whole. Modifying or refilling makes the attachment and behaviour unpredictable.

Hot enough to cause burns. We are measuring exact temperatures with an IR thermometer in our test series. Until then: do not touch it until it has cooled down completely.
